Christmas at the Lighthouse – A Magical Day on the Edge of the North Sea
When the winter wind sweeps across Hanstholm and the waves crash against the pier, there is one place where warmth and Christmas spirit bring people together: The North Atlantic Lighthouse. On Saturday, 6 December, the lighthouse transforms into Thy’s coziest Christmas market – a tradition that year after year brings smiles, the scent of pine, and the sound of Christmas bells to the coast.
Santa arrives by Christmas ship
At 10:30, Santa Claus arrives in the most Hanstholm-like way imaginable: by Christmas ship into the harbour. Here he hands out sweets to the children before continuing up to the lighthouse to spread joy and Christmas cheer.
A day full of experiences
From 10:00 to 16:00, you can explore more than 30 local exhibitors offering everything from ceramics, woodcraft and patchwork to handmade Christmas decorations, smoked delicacies and sweet treats. The café is open all day with warm drinks and something tasty for the palate.
There will also be music in the tent with Den Glade Thybo, a Lucia procession, dancing around the big Christmas tree, horse-drawn carriage rides, and at 13:00 you can experience the traditional fish auction with Jesper Kongsted. You also won’t want to miss the cosy Christmas concert in Hansted Church at 14:00.
