At Thorsminde Camping by Nissum Fjord, you will find one of the best kitesurfing spots in Denmark for both beginners and experienced surfers. It is one of the most wind-reliable areas in Europe, where you can enjoy kitesurfing in safe, shallow waters, free of rocks and with plenty of space. Access to the spot is through Thorsminde Camping, where you can purchase a day pass allowing you to use the kitesurfing spot directly by the fjord. The day pass also gives you access to the shared kitchen, changing facilities and showers, so you can cook, get changed and take a shower after your surf session. Safety is a high priority in the area, and the fjord is monitored by the kitesurfing school's lookout tower from the beginning of May until the end of September. If you would like lessons, there is a kitesurfing school at the spot offering instruction by qualified instructors in accordance with VDWS guidelines from the beginning of May until the end of September. If you stay at Thorsminde Camping or have booked a course through the kitesurfing school, the day pass is included. Nissum Fjord is a protected bird sanctuary, and water sports are therefore only permitted from 1 April to 1 November. There may also be designated zones with restrictions during other parts of the birds' breeding season. Any such restrictions are shown on the map at the kitesurfing spot.
