Kirsten Kjær’s Museum is a private art museum in Thy with an extensive collection of paintings and drawings created by Kirsten Kjær (1893–1985) – a complex personality who described herself as a “painter of people.”
The museum also features a separate exhibition of works by Poul Beckett (1922–1994), as well as Axel Kok-Jensen’s ceramic collection, which presents a representative selection of Danish studio ceramics.
The galleries, which are part of the museum, host rotating exhibitions featuring younger contemporary artists.
The café offers coffee/tea as well as Danish kringle and buns with cheese and butter. The museum shop sells original prints, various local products, and a smaller selection of art books.
In Børnehøjde, the museum’s newest section, children can draw freely and have their drawings displayed.
Concerts and events are held throughout the year and are announced on the website.
