Lecture: War History Seen Through Archaeology in Holstebro
Learn more about German defence installations, military history and the hidden traces of war and defence in the Jutland landscape.

From 1940 to 1989, Jutland was a line of defence. Archaeologists Janne Porsgaard Dam and Bo Ejstrud, both museum curators at the Centre for Aerial Archaeology, talk about the German defence installations from the occupation and the structures the Cold War left behind. Georadar and aerial photos still make it possible to read the military history in the landscape, even where the traces are no longer visible to the naked eye. One of the surveyed sites lies just outside Holstebro: an anti-tank ditch, surveyed with georadar in the summer of 2024.
