Here you can look beyond the greatness and feel small and insignificant in the vast landscape. The history of the plantation started with a historical walk: Four darling dune farmers, in 1856 laced the hiking shoes and went all the way to the king in Copenhagen to complain about the parish's distress: Husby was drowning. Not in the harsh waves of the North Sea, but in sand. Sand escape has been a problem that has affected the area and life here for many generations. Back in the 16th century, the king forbade the removal of vegetation from the area. All plants could help in keeping the fly sand. But in 1856 it became too much anyway. The fields were sandy and Husby parish would soon be covered. The sand was already reaching piles in front of the church. Fortunately, the king, Frederick the 7th, was responsive to the problems of the peasants. He even gave them some travel money so that at least they didn't have to go all the way back. In 1858, the first dune plant, Drewsen, came to Husby. It became the starting point for Husby Klitplantage and thus the end of the violent sand escape.

You hike in a very varied terrain, where you get very close to the water when you are challenged in the dunes along the beautiful rugged west coast, feel the silence of the moors and meet the colors of the season and hear the birds chirping as you move through the Husby Klitplantage.
