Join us as the animals at Hjerl Hede are fed
Help the museum’s keeper feed the animals their favorite foods
Join the museum’s keeper on an exciting tour of Hjerl Hede’s historic farm animals. On a 45-minute walking tour, you’ll see horses, cows, pigs, sheep, goats, chickens, and geese, while the keeper talks about the animals and their favorite foods.
The goats are curious and playful, the sheep have thick wool, the pigs wallow in the mud, and the calm Fjord horses pull carriages and bakery carts – all animals are actively involved in the museum’s daily life and work. Oxen help with the harvest, sheep’s wool is carded and spun, and pigs are slaughtered at Christmas.
The experience is free with a valid museum ticket. Please arrive at least 15 minutes before departure.
You can also explore the museum on your own, discovering animals in the fields, pastures, and stables – a living story of rural life through history.
