Hjerl Hede Open-Air Museum is beautifully located in the heathland, next to Denmark’s largest heath lake, Flyndersø.
The museum now offers guided horse-drawn carriage tours starting on site and leading into the surrounding nature and Ice Age landscape.
Along the way, you will hear about the landscape, wildlife, and the history of transforming heathland into farmland through cultivation and drainage.
The route passes kettle holes and continues to an old hunting lodge, where there is a short stop with views over Lake Flyndersø and time for a small refreshment included in the price.
Museum admission is not included.
