Walk from Enghaven up Brostræde straight ahead to the roundabout at Bomhuset (The Toll House). Bomhuset is Holstebro’s oldest building and dates from the 18th Century.
Leave Sønderport at Herningvej. Turn right just before the bridge over Vegen Å (Vegen River), and follow Vegen Å-stien (Vegen River Path) into Nybohøje Plantage (Nybohøje Plantation) and Skovlund Plantage (Skovlund Plantation).
The main building was built in 1930 by Gerda and Erik Færch. During the war it was used as a hiding place by members of the Resistance. Back then it was well outside town and surrounded by plantations.
Follow Vegen Å back to Ringvejen and across Skjernvej. Take the first left into Vestre Plantage (Vestre Plantation). Cross Ringkøbingvej above Idomvej and pass the dog walking woodland in Nibsbjerg Plantage (Nibsbjerg Plantation).
Take Nibsbjergstien along Storå (Storå River). At 104 km, Storå is Denmark’s second-longest river. Follow the path over Vestervang, cross Vesterbrogade and follow Ved Åen by Holstebro Friluftsbad (Holstebro Open Air Swimming Pool).
Follow Åstien across Sønderlandsgade past Hotel Royal. Follow Slotsgade, St. Torv and Brostræde to Enghaven.
Red route on the map. The hike is 13 km.
